LIVE CLASSES

FROM WHAT IS TO WHAT SHOULD BE

For two decades, I've enjoyed the privilege of teaching in higher ed. All my classes (I've launched fifty, plus certificates, specializations, and an MA program) have delved into a variety of fields to find the content and practices that transform lives, as my students and colleagues will attest.

Today, I place all that, my leadership and consulting experience, and two PhDs' worth of knowledge at the service of changing how things are: away from division and alienation and toward visions of how we want to live.

INTRO TO LAMPLIGHTING

Introduction to Lamplighting:
A New Kind of Change Agent

Reform, struggle, heroic activism: all needed. But lamplighters are called to work in the depths, expanding our guiding stories through imagination, creativity, inspiration, and hope.

This four-week class introduces methods, practices, and ideas from a variety of fields to create for yourself a storied path of difference-making that acknowledges the shadow in all of us but speaks to the best of us, appealing to higher values and the need for community.

We meet weekly via Zoom Each session includes instruction, discussion, and practices. The course begins when sign-ups reach a suitable number for the course. (The first one ran at 15 participants.) Price: $110 for entire course.

Instructor: Craig Chalquist, PhD., PhD. Bio here.

"Lamplighting offers a new worldview, a framework whose possibilities for play, love, celebration and learning  are inexhaustible. And best of all, it is not a lonely path but one that can be taken straight back into both local and global communities thus inspiring hope for our world."

As a filmmaker, I’m especially drawn to exploring the stories that shape our world. After taking Introduction to Lamplighting, I feel both validated and energized in my heart-centered approach to creating change. Craig’s guidance offered a deeper understanding of how to engage with guiding stories — not through force, but through imagination, creativity, inspiration, and hope.

Meet your Imaginal Allies:
A Deep Resource for Creators

You think you make up those characters in your fictions and fantasies? Don't tell them that. They're liable to block you or walk out.

In this class we will learn about and practice the kind of active imagination that feeds our creativity, explore the wisdom of imaginal mentors and allies, and make conscious our relations with them, enlisting them in our work.

Format: four weekly Zoom classes. You will also receive resources for deepening into your creative journey. The course begins when sign-ups reach a suitable number for the course. Price: $110 for entire course.

WISE LEADERSHIP

Lead With Wisdom:
The Way of the Sage

The world does not need more rulers. It needs people who lead with wisdom, vision, and humaneness.

In this class we explore how to step informally or formally, quietly or prominently, onto the path of the wise leader. Examples of such leaders from life, myth, and lived philosophy will guide you into fashioning your own Way of the Sage as you draw on what you've learned, seen, and gathered for others to be enriched and empowered by.

Format: four weekly Zoom classes. You will also receive resources for deepening into your creative journey. The course begins when sign-ups reach a suitable number for the course. Price: $110 for entire course.

ANIMATE EARTH

Heart-Shaped Rock Island

Animate Earth:

Rejoining the Great Conversation

When we were young, we all felt at times like the world and its forms and beings were speaking directly to us. All our ancestors felt that way, and many people still do. We can, too.

This four-week class surveys traditions around the world that speak of the Great Conversation with the things of the world, sources of lore like Alexandrian alchemy and Transcendentalism for which the words of this nonverbal language are symbols. From these and the field of terrapsychology, we will learn reconnective practices for reenchanting us beyond a dead planet of mute things into Earth reanimated.

We meet weekly via Zoom Each session includes instruction, discussion, and practices. The course begins when sign-ups reach a suitable number for the course. Price: $110 for entire course.
